With ski-tan smiles 和 serious gear propped in the racks, 太浩湖’s Palisades Tahoe (formerly Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows) attracts elite skiers 和 their families, with all ages welcome on 和 off the slopes. Long-time fans, many of whom have skied here since they were tiny, think of Palisades as “their” mountain, a perfect club for top skiers such as Olympian Jonny Moseley.
Palisades has two base areas: the Village at Palisades Tahoe, about seven miles northwest of 太浩城, 和 Alpine小屋, just down the road, tucked between 特拉基 和 太浩城. Connecting them is the 2.蔓延 Base to Base Gondola, which opened in December 2022. The gondola will whisk guests between the two bases in about 16 minutes, with the option to unload at the KT-22 mid-station. With these two bases connected as the resort’s founders had originally envisioned, Palisades Tahoe is now the largest ski resort in California.
Families 和 savvy powder-seekers will appreciate this approachable mountain, which features 更多的 than 100 trails on its 6,000 acres of terrain, ranging from easy groomed runs to wide open bowls that offer views of 太浩湖 下面.
In addition to its famous terrain, Palisades boasts a few other differentiators. The resort was the host of the 1960 Winter Olympics—take an 空中有轨电车 ride to see memorabilia at the free Olympic museum—和 often holds elite competitions throughout the season. It’s not uncommon to see past 和 future Olympians training on the mountain.
Palisades Tahoe has also set itself apart with a focus on sustainability. The Village at Palisades Tahoe is engaging 和 family-friendly, buzzing with live music, a bungee-jump tramp for the kids, 和 countless tail-wagging dogs. Let your pint-size racers play in the SnoVentures zone, where kids ages 6 to 12 can tube, roast marshmallows, 和 steer mini snowmobiles on a groomed track. SnowVentures also gets pumping with a live DJ 和 glittering LED lights to host the all-ages Disco Tubing party on select weekend evenings. Another local favorite is the ultra-low-key Le麂 (“The Chammy”), a nearly half-century base-village institution that serves pizza 和 beer in a lively après atmosphere. Locals also love to stop by Wildflour Baking Company for warm-from-the-oven cookies.
