Famous for his roles on shows like Workaholics, Parks and Recreation, and Woke, Blake Anderson is a Californian through and through. Originally from Concord, the actor and comedian has had the unique experience of living all across the Golden State, including the San Francisco Bay Area, Orange County, and Los Angeles. Workaholics was even set in the Inland Empire city of Rancho Cucamonga (though it was filmed in Van Nuys).
In 2020, Anderson launched the weekly podcast, This Is Important, with his best friends and Workaholics costars Adam Devine, Anders Holm, and Kyle Newacheck. Together, they contemplate the merits of “serious” subjects such as video games, pickleball, and everything in between. During his appearance on the California Now Podcast, the East Bay native took the California Questionnaire, answering a series of rapid-fire questions about his love for the Golden State. Where do you live? I live in Los Angeles.

Who or what is your greatest California love? California love… (singing). I love Bay Area rap, hyphy culture. Mac. Dre. Let's go.
What is the biggest misperception about Californians? I guess that we're stuck up. No, we're super down-to-earth. The most coolest people on the Earth live in California.
What is the stereotype that most holds true? Dude and bro, dude.
Time for a road trip—where are you going? Ojai, California. I love it there. The Turtle Conservancy, is so sick, dude. It's by appointment only. But if you know somebody there, I'm telling you, it's straight up tortoise heaven.
If you could decree an official state culinary experience, what would it be? I would say a cheeseburger at Burger She Wrote. That's the place to be. It's right in Hollywood next to WACKO, which is also a really cool shop that you should stop in. They have a really cool art exhibit and really great books and toys there. WACKO and Burger She Wrote, that's the one-two combo.
Where would you go for the ultimate shopping spree in California? Sunvalley Mall. That's where I grew up. That's what I love, man.
Best California song? I wish they all could be California girls… (singing). That's the one. Beach Boys for life, dude. I love Beach Boys. They're the best.
How would your California dream day unfold? I would definitely be driving on the I-5. I would drive all the way to Concord just to go to Los Gallos and get a burrito, and then just probably lay in Todos Santos Park, just to look at the sun.
